5 stars now that I figured out how to position it!
Original review is below, I gave it 4 stars. But recently I decided to try slipping the base between the mattress and box spring at the head of the bed, and now it’s perfect. I don’t have to physically pick it up and move it out of the way anymore, I just swing the bar to the side. Having the base up higher makes it infinitely more adjustable as far as reading angle, plus having it positioned behind me means it is positioned right in front of me. When it sat alongside the bed the arm wasn’t quite long enough to get the viewing field right in front of me. Love this thing now!(Original review) I like to read my Kindle Oasis in bed every night and I was getting neck and shoulder pain from holding the Oasis high enough so that I could see it comfortably. I bought a strap so I could hold it one handed, that helped a little.
I bought a lap desk tablet holder but it wasn’t adjustable enough to get to the right position. So I decided to try this one. It would be perfect IF - #1 - there was a way to lock the top part of the main pole into position so that it didn’t move and that would also make it easier to pick up the stand and move it out of the way. As it is you need to make sure you pick it up by the lower part or it just comes apart. #2 - I wish the topmost arm was a few inches longer. As it is right now I need to be close to the edge of the bed for the tablet to be centered in front of me. And #3 - it would be nice if there was a locking mechanism on the ball joint of the actual tablet holder.
At first I was getting irritated because I had it positioned horizontally and while I was reading the Oasis would slowwwly tip down and need to be readjusted every 10 minutes. I switched the holder to vertical and it’s holding steady but now the viewing angle is slightly lower sine it’s not holding the ereader along the bottom edge. Nit picky, yes, but I’m looking for reading in bed nirvana here. So overall I’m happy with it and recommend it but I’m still keeping my eye out for the perfect tablet stand.
